At 51, Shilpa Shetty continues to make a strong case for fitness that goes beyond intense workouts and calorie-burning routines. The actor, who has practised yoga for years, regularly shares glimpses of her fitness regimen with her followers. Her latest post focuses on a challenging yoga movement that tests flexibility, mobility and body control.
Shilpa Shetty’s Latest Yoga Challenge
In a video shared on Instagram, Shilpa demonstrated the asana herself, turning it into a fitness challenge for her followers. Dressed in a light green workout top and black leggings, she began in a deep squat before folding her upper body forward.
She carefully placed her hands ahead of her feet and gradually lowered her forehead towards the floor. The controlled movement requires flexibility through
the lower body as well as stability and strength to maintain the position.
Rather than presenting the pose as an easy stretch, Shilpa acknowledged that it can be difficult to perform. She encouraged her followers to try it and use the exercise as a way of understanding where their flexibility currently stands.
What The Yoga Pose Works On
According to Shilpa, the movement can help work on flexibility around the sacroiliac joint, pelvic muscles, knees and ankles. Her post also highlights an important aspect of mobility training: some movements may feel uncomfortable or difficult simply because the body isn’t accustomed to that range of motion.
For Shilpa, the answer has always been consistency. Her approach to yoga combines physical practice with awareness, rather than treating flexibility as something that can be achieved overnight.
Yoga Helped Shilpa Overcome Spondylosis
The actor’s relationship with yoga is also deeply personal. Speaking during the 12th International Yoga Day celebrations, Shilpa revealed that she initially began practising yoga after suffering from spondylosis.
She said her physiotherapist recommended yoga as part of her recovery, after which she began working with a yoga instructor and gradually explored more asanas. What started as a way to address a physical problem eventually became an important part of her lifestyle.
Shilpa has previously spoken about how dramatically her physical abilities changed through regular practice. She recalled a time when she struggled to turn her neck fully, while today she is capable of performing advanced movements such as a headstand.
For Shilpa, Yoga Is More Than Fitness
The actor believes the benefits of yoga extend beyond flexibility and strength. Over time, she says, the practice changed the way she approached life, making her more aware of her body, thoughts and reactions.
That philosophy is evident in the way she approaches fitness today. At 51, Shilpa’s workouts aren’t simply about looking fit, they are about mobility, consistency, strength and maintaining a deeper connection with the body. The actor was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s OTT series Indian Police Force.
