Akola (Maharashtra), Sep 12 (PTI) A 70-old-woman was killed and two others were seriously injured after a man repeatedly drove a van into their house amid a land dispute in Barshitalki taluka of the district, police said on Saturday.
The incident took place at Jamvasu village, more than 250 km from Nagpur, at around 8.30 am on Friday. The deceased was identified as Sonibai Jadhav (70), a police official said.
The Jadhav family had gathered for the ‘Pola’ festival on September 10 when a minor disute over land arose between them and the neighbouring family of accused Baban Ghuge (42). Both families even visited the Barshitakli police station on the same day.
The following morning, Baban Ghuge allegedly drove his Bolero pick-up van at least four times
into Sonibai Jadhav’s house when she and other family members were inside their home.
Seriously injured, she died at a private hospital in Akola. Two other members of her family were injured, the official said.
Baban Ghuge (42) himself too sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at the Akola District General Hospital, he said.
A case of murder was registered against him and the Barshitakli police are conducting further investigations. PTI COR KRK
