Delhi Police on Thursday issued a traffic advisory ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) proposed ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march at Connaught Place on Friday, October 16, warning that traffic movement on 21 key roads could be affected from 3 pm onwards.
In a post on X, the traffic police urged commuters to plan their journeys, allow extra travel time and use public transport wherever possible. Traffic diversions may be introduced depending on the situation.
The advisory comes amid a stand-off between the police and CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke over the proposed gathering at Central Park, where the party has called on people to assemble with national flags at 5 pm.

Police Urge People To Avoid Gathering
Earlier, Delhi Police urged people to stay away from the proposed march, citing prohibitory orders in force in Connaught Place and adjoining areas.
Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) is in force in the area to maintain peace and protect lives and public and private property. Police warned that legal action would be taken against those who violate the orders.
However, the force said it could facilitate a select group of people to wave the national flag and sing the national anthem at a suitable location.
Central Park To Remain Closed
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has informed Delhi Police that Central Park will remain closed on October 16 and 17 for administrative reasons. It has also sought security arrangements to prevent unauthorised access.
Dipke has appealed to people to join the march with Tricolour flags amid the party’s protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Police have also stepped up security at several locations as a precautionary measure. Market and traders’ associations in Connaught Place and nearby areas have sought protection for their establishments during the festive season.
