USA pacer Saurabh Netravalkar endured a forgettable day on his return to Mumbai to play against his nation of birth, India, in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The left-hander conceded 65 runs in his four overs, without any wickets, the most expensive figures ever in the history of this tournament.
He went past Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya’s record of 0/64 against Pakistan in the inaugural edition of 2007.
Ishan Kishan hit him for a six in his first over before Tilak Varma smacked another six and four in his second over. However, the main take-down was orchestrated by India captain Suryakumar Yadav at the death, finding three boundaries and one six in the 16th over, and then two sixes and a four in the 20th.
To be fair to Netravalkar, he was given the
toughest job in the team, tasked to bowl in the powerplay as well as in the slog overs. In the middle, when India were struggling for runs and had suffered a big collapse, he wasn’t called up, and Suryakumar spent this phase consolidating and preparing himself for the late onslaught.

Netravalkar’s figures made up around 40% of the total runs India scored — 161/9.
India endured a torrid start before skipper Suryakumar’s unbeaten 84 salvaged a modest total. The warning signs were evident early as India failed to score off the first four deliveries, and despite Ishan Kishan breaking the shackles with a six, Abhishek Sharma fell for a first-ball duck in the second over.
Tight field placements and disciplined bowling left India struggling for momentum, even as Tilak Varma briefly counterattacked. The innings unravelled rapidly with the dismissals of Ishan, Tilak, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel, leaving India reeling at 77 for six. South Africa-born Shadley van Schalkwyk led the charge with figures of 4 for 25.
Amid the collapse, Suryakumar held firm, farming the strike expertly before the final flourish.
