Jul 5 (PTI) Odisha Vigilance Department officers on Sunday arrested a woman sarpanch for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an SHG functionary for signing some documents, officials said.
The sarpanch of Nimna Gram Panchayat under the Ullunda block of Sonepur district was apprehended while taking the bribe for an SHG group to sign the agreement papers required to secure a subsidy amount from the district fisheries office, the department said in a statement.
A case has been lodged at Sambalpur Vigilance PS under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, and the investigation is underway, it said. PTI BBM BBM BDC
