Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde have teamed up for the upcoming rom-com, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Directed by David Dhawan, the film is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Today, on April 14, the makers released the first look on social media. However, the first sneak peek has received mixed reactions from the audience. Amid the divided response, a video is now going viral on the internet, in which an influencer is seen accusing Varun Dhawan of faking reviews for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’s first look.
What has the influencer posted against Varun Dhawan?
A content creator named Simran Bhat posted a Reel on Tuesday, explaining how she was approached by two individuals at the metro station for a review. She went on to reveal that those people asked her to review the first
look without even watching it. Simran posted a video explaining that she and her friend were approached by two people at Rajiv Chowk Metro. She was heard saying, “Two people stopped us and said a Varun Dhawan film teaser had been released. Can you please review it? I told them I hadn’t watched it yet. The guy said, it’s okay, we’ll tell you what to say. I questioned how it could be a review if they tell us what to say? The girl tried to reason that it’s because I hadn’t watched it yet. But if you want a genuine review, take it from those who have watched it.”
She further added, “The girl insisted that I watch it then. I said it was getting late and I needed to be somewhere. Accha niklo niklo! Jao jao. I was like, bhai, Varun Dhawan ke itne bure din aagaye kya ki usko fake reviews lene pad rahe hai?”
Varun Dhawan reacts to the claims
Soon after she shared the video, Varun Dhawan dropped a comment on it. He commented, “Hope you get the views you really want with this video.” Simran replied, “@varundvn Sir with due respect I don’t need to do these kinds of things for views. I already am satisfied with my numbers…”
She also re-shared his comment on her Instagram Stories, reiterating, “With due respect I’m already getting good views and Tbh I’m satisfied with my numbers. Secondly if I needed attention I should have posted it on my feed but it was a trial reel. And this actually happened with us. Also you should definitely once check with your pr team kyuki isse aapki hi image p farak padd rha h..”
Simran also posted a screenshot of another comment of Varun Dhawan that seems to have been deleted. The comment allegedly read, “First of all ma’am u have convinced urself that someone who has come and asked u has asked u because I sent them to u all this for views.”
Meanwhile, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai was earlier slated to release on June 12. Today, the makers revealed that it will now arrive in theatres on May 22, 2026.
