New Delhi, Sep 11 (PTI) Two railway officials posted at the Divisional Railway Manager’s (DRM) office in Prayagraj were arrested by the CBI after they were allegedly caught “red-handed” taking a Rs 50,000 bribe to transfer a woman senior assistant loco pilot from Kanpur to Prayagraj on spousal grounds, according to a complaint and subsequent verification.
The agency took action on a complaint from a senior assistant loco pilot whose wife was seeking the transfer.
It is alleged that the Arvind Kumar, Assistant Personnel Officer (APO), and Rajendra Mani Tripathi, Office Superintendent (OS), demanded a Rs 70,000 bribe, officials said.
A senior assistant loco pilot working in the Prayagraj division approached the CBI, alleging that his wife, also a senior assistant loco pilot posted
at the GMC Loco Pilot Lobby in Kanpur, was working at the Prayagraj Lobby on a loan basis and had applied for a permanent transfer to Prayagraj on spousal grounds.
According to the complaint, the couple visited the DRM office to ascertain the status of the transfer application. They met Kumar, who allegedly directed them to meet Tripathi.
The complaint alleged that Tripathi demanded Rs 70,000 for facilitating the transfer.
The CBI then arrested Kumar and Tripathi while allegedly accepting the bribe amount from the complainant during a trap operation. PTI ABS KSI KSI
