Indian Idol 16 Winner Jyotirmayee Nayak: Indian Idol 16 has found its winner. Odisha singer Jyotirmayee Nayak lifted the trophy during the grand finale on Sunday, July 26, bringing an end to a season that ran for more than nine months and featured contestants from across the country.
Jyotirmayee secured the highest number of audience votes, defeating fellow finalists Anshika Chonkar, Manraj Veer Singh, Myscmme Bosu, Suhail Sufi and Tanishk Shukla. Tanishk was declared the first runner-up, while Manraj finished in third place.
Along with the trophy, Jyotirmayee received prize money of Rs 20 lakh. The other runners-up were presented with cheques worth Rs 5 lakh each.

The result was announced in the final moments of the two-part finale, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television and streamed on SonyLIV. Jyotirmayee was joined on stage by her family, fellow contestants and members of the show’s team as confetti filled the studio following the announcement.
For her final performance, she sang Saiyaan O Saiyaan, bringing together the vocal control and emotional expression that had defined her run on the show.
Reacting to her victory, Jyotirmayee said, “Winning Indian Idol Season 16 feels absolutely surreal. From walking into the auditions with nothing but a dream to standing here as the winner, this journey has truly been life-changing. Every performance challenged me to become a better singer, performer, and person, and I’ll always cherish everything I’ve learnt along the way.”
She added, “I’m immensely grateful to Sony Entertainment Television and Fremantle for giving me this incredible platform to showcase my talent and helping me grow into the artist I am today. A heartfelt thank you to our judges, Aditya bhaiya, the entire crew, everyone behind the scenes who worked tirelessly to make this journey so special, my family, friends, and every single person who believed in me and voted for me.”
Calling the win a shared achievement, she continued, “This trophy is not just mine; it belongs to everyone who stood by me and made this dream possible. I hope to continue making music that touches hearts, keeps me learning, and makes everyone proud.”
Judges And Guests Celebrate Her Victory
Judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah congratulated Jyotirmayee after the announcement. Vishal Dadlani, who had judged the season alongside them, could not attend the finale because of a prior commitment but joined the winner announcement through a video call.
Aditya Narayan hosted the competition, while Udit Narayan had appeared as an on-stage guide during the early phase of the season.
The grand finale also brought together several prominent names from the music and entertainment industries. Usha Uthup, Udit Narayan, Papon, Kumar Sanu, Shehnaaz Gill and Urmila Matondkar appeared during the closing episode and contributed performances and special segments.
Performances That Defined Jyotirmayee’s Journey
Jyotirmayee had established herself as one of the season’s strongest performers well before the finale. Her rendition of O Jab Tak Hai Jaan Jaane Jahan Main Nachungi received a standing ovation from veteran actress Hema Malini.
Another performance, Jaane Kyun Log Mohabbat Kiya Karte Hain, moved Leena Chandavarkar, who said she wanted to hear the iconic song in Jyotirmayee’s voice.
Her command over emotionally demanding numbers and classic Hindi film songs steadily made her a favourite among the judges and viewers. Unlike several contestants who entered the competition with limited professional exposure, Jyotirmayee was already an established singer in the Odia music industry.
Before appearing on Indian Idol, she had also used music as part of therapy sessions for cancer patients, an aspect of her life that became an important part of her story on the show.
Indian Idol 16 Top Six And Season Theme
The six finalists competing for the trophy were Jyotirmayee Nayak, Tanishk Shukla, Manraj Veer Singh, Anshika Chonkar, Myscmme Bosu and Suhail Sufi. All six returned to the stage during the finale before the audience-voting results were announced.
The season premiered on October 18, 2025, under the theme Yaadon Ki Playlist. The format placed particular emphasis on evergreen Hindi film music while introducing viewers to singers from different regions and musical backgrounds.
Auditions were held beyond the television studio as the makers travelled in search of new voices. The selected singers later advanced through theatre rounds, gala performances and weekly eliminations before the competition reached its July 25 and 26 finale.
Jyotirmayee’s victory now places her alongside the previous winners of the long-running singing reality show and opens a new phase in her career beyond the Indian Idol stage.
