Recently, a 16-year-old boy from Madhya Pradesh travelled almost 900 km to Mumbai after deciding to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He was hoping to get an opportunity to act in the popular television show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC). However, the cops found him wandering alone at Film City in Goregaon. The teenager from Chhindwara district had been reported missing by his family after he left home on August 6 without informing anyone.
The news reached TMKOC producer Asit Kumarr Modi who issued a message to young aspirants. Reacting to the incident, Asit said that while it is encouraging to see youngsters passionate about pursuing acting, they must ensure that their journey towards their dreams is safe and responsible.
“Dream
big. Follow your passion. Work hard for it. But always remember that the journey towards your dream is as important as the dream itself,” he said.
The producer also urged aspiring actors not to take risks without involving their families. “Your education, your safety and the trust of your parents must always come first. Never take a step that could put you at risk or leave your family worried about you. Speak to your parents, involve them in your dreams and pursue every opportunity through the right and responsible channels.”
He further emphasised that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been a platform for several young artistes to kick-start their careers. “We are always happy to see young people passionate about acting and entertainment. Talent will always find an opportunity when combined with preparation, patience and the right approach. If you aspire to work with TMKOC, please approach our official casting team through the appropriate channels with the knowledge of your parents and guardians.”
“Keep studying. Keep learning. Keep dreaming. Keep working towards your passion. Sapne zaroor dekho… unhe poora bhi karo. Bas sahi raaste se,” he concluded.
Police said the teenager left home in Chhindwara on Thursday afternoon, telling his family that he was going to school. He instead headed to the railway station, took a train to Nagpur and then boarded another train bound for Mumbai.
The boy arrived at Goregaon railway station the following morning, police said. He then walked towards Film City, apparently hoping to find an opportunity to enter the entertainment industry.
The teenager was found wandering alone in the Film City area of Goregaon. After being alerted, a police mobile unit reached the spot and took him to Aarey Police Station. During questioning, he told officers that he was a student from Chhindwara who had travelled to Mumbai in pursuit of his dream of becoming an actor.
According to police, the teenager expressed a particular desire to work in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, one of India’s longest-running sitcoms. The police subsequently got in touch with his family and took steps to reunite him with them.
