It’s not every day a former Indian cricketer offers one-to-one coaching to young talents in the space, so when Laxman Sivaramakrishnan offered his services, cricket fans on X got talking. Keeping things straight and to the point, the former leg-spin bowler took to his X page and announced that he would be taking on the role of coach, and all those interested had to do was simply DM Sivaramakrishnan on the Elon Musk-owned app.

“Brilliant Initiative”
Reacting promptly to his post, cricket lovers responded with positive messages and words of praise for the former Indian cricketer. “Great and excited to see you want to share your talent and knowledge, Sir! Wish you all success in your endeavors! (sic),” wrote @Venu012M on X.
“Great , i hope we can get 3-4 quality spinners in next 2-3 years under the guidance of you (sic),” chimed @invinciblemen19.
“That’s great @LaxmanSivarama1. When, i started watching Cricket, you were the best leg spinner the Indian team had that time & then Narendra Hirwani. Though, he broke the world record for most no.of wickets in a Test match he had a short span (sic).”

That under his guidance, India could produce quality leg spinners was a shared sentiment in the cricket community.
“Yes LS. I was waiting for this for several years now. TN needs good bowling talent. The way we are performing in Ranji trophy is ridiculous.
Hope you and folks like Bosskey can nurture some very good leg spinners for the future (sic),” added @DCSureshAnalyst.
“Hope the parents take note of this. LS was the best leg spinner in the mid-80s. The dip was lethal. The turn was wicked. The batters looked helpless,” wrote @maaheshkutty.
Why Cricket Fans Rejoiced
Fondly known as ‘Siva,’ Sivaramakrishnan played 9 Tests and 16 ODIs for India between 1983 and 1986. Before turning 19, the leg spinner produced a match-winning spell against England in the 1984-85 Test in Mumbai, picking 12 scalps for 181 runs before eventually finishing the series with 23 wickets. This effort also earned him the Man of the Series award. The lean spinner, in sublime form, played a vital role in India’s victory at the World Championship of Cricket in Australia. But his form declined soon after, and despite showing early signs of brilliance, he went on to play only nine Tests for India. He found a new lease of life behind the microphone, stepping into commentary for the first time in 2000, right at the turn of the millennium.

In Recent News
Earlier this year, Sivaramakrishnan announced on his X account, sharing that he was retiring from commentary duties after making explosive allegations against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of alleged mistreatment during his time with the mic.
In a series of tweets, the former leg-spinner shared deep job dissatisfaction in his tenure as he rued the lack of opportunities while his fellow commentators hogged the limelight. “If I have not been used for TOSSES and PRESENTATION for 23 years and new comers come in do pitch report Tosses Presentation even when Shastri was coaching, what do you think could be the reason,” Sivaramakrishnan wrote on his X account.
“My retirement is nothing great. But a story of tv production unfolds. Soon you will see the bigger picture,” he wrote in another tweet.
The former cricketer’s “anti- Ravichandran Ashwin” rant also famously went viral during his commentary retirement news when fans dug up Sivaramakrishnan’s tweets in which he had criticised Ashwin’s abilities and contributions with the ball for India.
