Mumbai Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather warning for Mumbai, forecasting thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds across the city over the next three hours.
The alert comes after heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Mumbai, disrupting road movement and affecting flight operations. While rain has eased in some areas, the latest warning suggests that another spell of unsettled weather could develop across the city.
The IMD has forecast gusty winds of 30-40 kmph, along with thunderstorms and lightning. The conditions could affect road and air travel if another spell of heavy rain develops.
Flights Affected By Mumbai Rain
Airline operations have also faced disruption due to the weather. IndiGo issued an advisory for passengers travelling
through Mumbai, saying heavy rainfall was affecting flight operations at the city airport.
The airline warned that passengers could face longer waiting times and advised them to check their flight status through its website or app before leaving for the airport.
IndiGo also asked passengers to keep extra travel time in hand, as rain could slow down traffic on roads leading to the airport.
“We value your time and are doing everything we can to help you get on your way as soon as possible,” the airline said in its advisory.
Akasa Air, Other Flights Also Hit
Other airlines, including Akasa Air, have also been affected by the weather, with passengers facing possible delays as rain and thunderstorms impact airport operations.
Travellers flying to or from Mumbai have been advised to check their flight status before starting their journey and leave with additional time for the airport.
Mumbai Weather: What Commuters Should Expect
The latest IMD warning means conditions could change quickly, even if the weather appears calm at present. Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds could temporarily affect flight schedules and airport operations.
Road users have also been advised to exercise caution during periods of heavy rain and strong winds. Waterlogging and slower traffic could further increase travel time across the city.
