Mayiladuthurai (TN), Sept 11 (PTI) Tamil Nadu Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management K A Sengottaiyan on Friday said the TVK-led alliance would achieve a decisive victory in the upcoming by-elections to two reserved constituencies and hinted at further political realignments ahead of the polls.
Speaking to reporters, the minister praised Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, describing him as a “guiding figure for India”, who is creating history in accordance with the aspirations of the people. “As long as he is around, he will be the leader who creates the history of being the permanent Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.” Addressing questions regarding the ruling alliance, Sengottaiyan expressed total confidence in the alliance’s current composition.
“With those who have joined now, we will reach a 100 per cent chance of victory,” he asserted.
By-elections will be held for Madurantakam and Dharampuram assembly constituencies on October 6.
Hinting at potential future additions to the bloc, he said, “You will get to know during the election what other parties are going to do.” However, when specifically asked whether the Left parties could join the alliance, the Minister merely said, “wait and watch”.
TVK, alongside the Congress, VCK, MDMK, and IUML, have formally named their alliance the ‘Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance’.
Notably, the Left parties have chosen to remain outside the formal alliance structure while providing issue-based support to the government. PTI JR JR ROH
