New Delhi, Jun 2 (PTI) Delhi on Tuesday recorded a maximum temperature of 37.7 degrees Celsius, 2.3 degrees below normal, amid relatively mild weather conditions across the city, weather data showed.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures remained below normal across monitoring stations, with Safdarjung, the base station, recording a maximum of 37.7 degrees Celsius, while the minimum stood at 26.8 degrees Celsius.
Palam recorded a high of 35.9 degrees Celsius, Lodhi Road 36 degrees, The Ridge 37.2 degrees, and Ayanagar 36.1, all 2.5 to 5 degrees below the normal for the season, IMD data showed.
The minimum temperatures at these four stations ranged between 24 and 25.7 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal normal.
No rainfall was recorded at any of the major stations on Tuesday, the data showed.
The weather conditions are expected to remain favourable in the upcoming week, reducing the likelihood of heatwave conditions during the first week of June, meteorologists said.
For Wednesday, the IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of thunderstorms and light rain at isolated places.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 38 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Delhi’s air quality remained ‘moderate’ on Tuesday with an AQI of 106 at 4 pm, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data showed.
The CPCB classifies an AQI between 0 and 50 as ‘good’, 51 and 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 and 200 ‘moderate’, 201 and 300 ‘poor’, 301 and 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 and 500 ‘severe’. PTI SGV ARI ARI
