A big update has arrived for fans of the Drishyam franchise, and it’s already creating excitement among thriller lovers waiting to see George Kutty back in action again.
Prime Video has officially announced that Drishyam 3 will start streaming on June 18, and the film will be available exclusively on the platform. Viewers in India, along with audiences in more than 200 countries and territories, will be able to watch it in Malayalam, as well as dubbed versions in Telugu, Tamil and Kannada.
The announcement also ties into Prime Video’s special Prime Day lineup, with the platform highlighting upcoming entertainment releases as part of its wider July celebrations in India.
The film continues the story
created by Jeethu Joseph and presented by PEN Studios and Panorama Studios, with production by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas. Mohanlal returns as George Kutty, along with Meena and Siddique in important roles.
In this new chapter, George Kutty seems to be living a peaceful life after the events of Drishyam 2. He has even turned his past into a film within the story. But things don’t stay calm for long.
Trouble returns when two journalists start digging into the real story behind the film made on his life. At the same time, a marriage proposal for his daughter Anju turns into something much more dangerous than expected. Slowly, George Kutty finds himself pulled back into situations he thought were behind him.
With pressure building from all sides, he is once again forced to protect his family and handle secrets that refuse to stay hidden.
Director Jeethu Joseph says this film goes deeper into George Kutty’s mind and emotions.
“Very few franchises in Indian cinema have achieved what Drishyam has, a story that began originally in Malayalam over a decade ago has since been embraced across languages and borders. What Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal have crafted across three films is a masterclass in sustained storytelling, each chapter deepening the emotional and moral complexity of a family audience that feel they know intimately. George Kutty is no longer just a character; he is part of the collective imagination of Indian cinema,” said Manish Menghani, Director and Head of Content Licensing, Prime Video India. “With Drishyam 3, one of India’s most successful film franchises, we are proud to continue this legacy on Prime Video, taking exemplary stories from India to audiences around the world.”
“With Drishyam 3, my intention was not just to continue the story, but to delve deeper into the mind of George Kutty. Over the years, he has become a man defined by the choices he made to protect his family, but beneath his resilience lies a father who has been forced to live with constant fear, uncertainty, and the weight of his past. This chapter explores the psychological toll of those experiences, making it perhaps the most intimate and emotionally layered film in the franchise. We wanted to examine not only what George Kutty does, but what those decisions have cost him as a person. I am thrilled that audiences across the world will now be able to experience this new chapter on Prime Video,” said writer and director Jeethu Joseph.
“George Kutty is a character who has stayed with audiences for many years, and that love is something deeply cherish. The reason audiences connect with Drishyam is that, beyond the mystery, it is rooted in a deeply human story about family, love, and survival. I am grateful for the affection audiences have shown George Kutty through the years and thrilled that Drishyam 3 will now reach audiences across the globe on Prime Video,” said Mohanlal.
The film has already been getting attention online after Prime Video dropped the announcement with the caption: “Georgekutty and family awaits you #Drishyam3OnPrime, June 18.”
