As the Chhath Puja festivities continue across India, many travelers are heading back to their hometowns to celebrate the sacred occasion. Amid this rush, a surprising scene at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International
Airport has caught everyone’s attention online. A traveler, named Ashish Kumar, shared a video on Instagram showing an unusually quiet airport on Friday, October 25.
In the clip that comes with the overlay text “Bengaluru airport no crowd,” Kumar can be seen in the departure area as he prepares to fly out for the festival.
What Does Ashish Kumar Say?
Expressing his astonishment at the lack of crowds, Kumar was heard saying in Hindi, “25 October aur mai Bangalore airport pe hu. Ghar jane ki taiyaari hai Chhath Puja ke liye. Lekin mai Bengaluru airport ka ye scene dekhkr hairaan ho gaya. (25 October and I’m at Bengaluru airport, getting ready to fly home for Chhath Puja. But I’m genuinely surprised by what I’m seeing here today.)
He then shows the empty Bengaluru airport, saying, “Pehli baar itna khali dekhne ko mila. Yaha dur dure tak apko gaariya ya jyada crowd dekhne nhi milega. Ekbaar dikha deta hu apko. Mai Departure me hu, buses bhi terminal ki khali ja rhi hai. (I’ve never seen Bengaluru airport this empty before. There’s hardly any crowd as far as I can see. I’m standing in the departure area, and even here, everything looks unusually quiet.)”

Chhath Puja 2025: Celebrations Across India
Also known as Maha Parv, Chhath Puja is an ancient Hindu festival primarily observed in Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. This auspicious festival is dedicated to Lord Surya (the Sun God) and his wife, Usha (Chhathi Maiya). The festival lasts for four days, starting with the Nahay Khay ritual and culminating with the offering of Usha Arghya on the final day.
This year, Chhath Puja is being observed from October 25 to October 28. Married women across India observe strict fasts, perform rituals on riverbanks, and pray to the rising and setting sun to promote the well-being, prosperity, progress, and welfare of their husbands and families.
