Kapil Sharma’s show has long been a staple of our weekends. While the channel hosting it may have changed over the years, its ability to connect with audiences has remained constant. The show’s iconic
characters have become household names, and the talented performers behind them like Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek and Sunil Grover, continue to enjoy immense love and admiration from viewers.
Recently, one of these beloved artists, Kiku Sharda, appeared on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, where he opened up about several interesting experiences. During the conversation, Kiku recalled an “out-of-the-box” interaction with veteran actress Moushumi Chatterjee who came on the show as a guest.
He shared that she was more interested in having fun and engaging in free-flowing conversations, paying little attention to the script and simply enjoying the moment.
Moushumi Chatterjee Surprised Everyone
Kiku shared, “Sometimes, the guests completely surprise us. We once did an episode with Moushumi Chatterjee. Now, Moushumi ji is in her own element.” He revealed that the veteran actress was chatting with Kapil Sharma as casually as if they were sitting in her living room. In the middle of the show, she would ask Kapil things like ‘Aur bata’ and ‘Kaisa hai’, often prompting Kapil to gently remind her that they needed to get back to the script.
Recalling an interaction involving himself and Krushna Abhishek, Kiku added, “She started speaking to me very casually (in the middle of his act) and asked how I was doing.” He shared that he had to tell Moushumi Chatterjee that he was in character and couldn’t respond as himself. The same thing happened with Krushna, and when he replied, she immediately pointed out, “Tu aise baat kyun kar raha hai? This isn’t how your character talks.” Kiku further mentioned that she wouldn’t even wait for the punchline at times, but despite the unpredictability, the episode eventually turned out to be an absolute laugh riot.
‘People Are Very Comfortable With Us’
The actor shared that guests on the show have now become much more comfortable with its format. He explained that in the early days, many were cautious and unsure about how things would unfold, but over time, that hesitation has faded. Today, guests understand that the cast will do what they do best, which allows them to relax and enjoy the experience. He also noted that there are moments when some guests try to outdo the comedians with their own jokes, which can make the interaction a bit awkward. “Now things have changed, people are very comfortable with us and the jokes we make,” concluded Kiku.
The Great Indian Kapil Show season 4 is returning on Netflix from 20th December.
