When it comes to railway stations in India, many of us picture crowded platforms, noise and basic facilities. But every now and then, a place comes along that challenges this stereotype. A recent video
from Uttar Pradesh does just that.
The clip showcases Gomti Nagar Railway Station in Lucknow, which looks more like a modern airport terminal. Redeveloped with world-class infrastructure, impressive cleanliness, and a spacious layout, the station stands apart from the typical image of traditional railway stations.
Gomti Railway Station Looks Like An ‘Airport Terminal’
The video begins with a woman stepping onto an escalator with her luggage. An overlay text on the screen reads, “Am I late for my flight?” The visuals at this point look every bit like an airport.
As the woman gets off the escalator, she continues walking through the station. She then heads towards the waiting lounge. This area closely resembles an airport terminal, complete with wide glass windows, centralised air-conditioning and a bright, open design.
The camera captures a spotlessly maintained concourse and wide passenger walkways. She then heads down towards the platform. Here, several semi-high-speed Vande Bharat trains can be seen stationed. The platforms appear clean and organised.
She captioned the video with, “Airport vibes, railway ticket.”

A New Model For Indian Railway Stations
Gomti Nagar Railway Station is Uttar Pradesh’s first privately-managed railway hub. This model is seen as a significant step towards the modernisation of Indian Railways. While train operations, security and ticketing continue to remain under Indian Railways, most other aspects of the station are managed by private companies.
