Anupam Kher’s directorial venture Tanvi The Great has earned a coveted spot in the Indian Panorama section at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), set to take place in Goa later this year.
The film, which delves into the inspiring intersection of autism and the Indian Army, marks Kher’s debut as a director and continues to gather recognition both nationally and internationally.
Sharing the news on Instagram, the veteran actor-filmmaker wrote, “GREAT NEWS: We are honoured and delighted to share that our film TANVI THE GREAT is an official selection at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in the Indian Panorama category. Thank you @iffigoa for this incredible recognition! Jai Ho!”
The announcement was accompanied by the film’s poster, which celebrates its message of courage and determination through the story of a young girl’s dream to serve her nation.
At the heart of Tanvi The Great is debutant Shubhangi Dutt, who plays Tanvi — a spirited girl with autism who lives with her mother and grandfather, portrayed by Anupam Kher. Driven by her late father’s legacy, she aspires to join the Indian Army, navigating challenges with strength and heart.
The film boasts an ensemble cast including Boman Irani, Jackie Shroff, Karan Tacker, Arvind Swami, Nasser, and British actor Iain Glen. Produced by Anupam Kher Studios in association with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), the movie highlights themes of perseverance, family bonds, and patriotic pride.
Tanvi The Great has already made an impressive mark across international film circuits, screening at festivals in Cannes, New York, London, and Houston. It received standing ovations during special previews at the National Defence Academy and the Southern Command in Pune. The film first released in theatres on July 18, 2025, and was later re-released on September 26, 2025, following popular demand.
