Announcing the delay via social media platform X, Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi stated that the decision was taken “in the interests of consensus”. The Omani Foreign Ministry emphasised that postponing the assembly aims to foster appropriate conditions for constructive dialogue capable of yielding sustainable
regional security agreements.

The proposed agenda centred on a draft agreement finalised between Iran and Oman to establish a restructured maritime corridor through the Strait of Hormuz. Under the negotiated blueprint, commercial vessels would navigate entry into the Gulf via designated Iranian territorial waters and exit primarily through Omani-controlled shipping lanes.
