New Delhi, Jul 18 (PTI) A 100-year-old woman died at a care home in northwest Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar area, following which police initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the cause of death, an officer said on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Efrecia, was brought to Aruna Asaf Ali Hospital in an unresponsive condition and was declared brought dead, police said.
According to police, information regarding the death was received from the hospital through a medico-legal case (MLC), following which an investigating officer reached the hospital and collected relevant documents.
The MLC stated that no fresh external injuries were found on the body, police said, adding that the body has been preserved at the Subzi Mandi mortuary for further legal
formalities. During the preliminary inquiry, police found that Efrecia had been residing at Oznam Home Society, which operates within the premises of Rosary Church and Rosary School in Mukherjee Nagar, police said.
She had reportedly been suffering from paralysis for the past one week and was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment from Jhajjar in Haryana. She was being looked after by members of the society, police said.
“No allegations of foul play have been made by any person so far,” a police officer said.
Police said inquest proceedings under the relevant provisions of law are underway. PTI BM PRK
