Former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Madan Shah broke down outside the residence of party chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday, alleging injustice over being denied
a ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Speaking to news agency PTI, an emotional Shah alleged that he was promised a ticket for the Bihar Elections 2025 by Lalu Yadav. However, he claimed that RJD leader Sanjay Yadav demanded Rs 2.7 crore. When he refused, the ticket was handed over to another candidate.
“Lalu Prasad Yadav promised to give me a ticket for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. RJD leader Sanjay Yadav had demanded Rs 2.7 crore, and when I refused to pay, the party ticket was given to someone else,” Madan Shah said.

According to reports, Shah sought for a party ticket to contest from the Madhuban Assembly constituency, which was eventually given to Dr Santosh Kushwaha. “I have worked tirelessly for the party for years, but tickets were distributed in exchange for money. The party has overlooked committed workers and prioritised wealthy individuals,” he was quoted as saying by Aaj Tak.
Security personnel later removed Madan Shah from the premises and brought the situation under control. The RJD has not commented officially on the matter.

Polling for the Bihar Assembly elections will take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results scheduled for November 14. The campaign activities have intensified as the date approaches, with parties announcing candidates for different constituencies.
As the first phase of nominations took place, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) faced hurdles, as the RJD and Congress struggled to finalise a consensus on seat-sharing that raised doubts on the coalition. While the RJD, the dominant partner, is reportedly firm on offering around 58 seats, the Congress is adamant about contesting more than 60, ideally 65, citing its status as a national party.
The alliance was dealt a further blow as Hemant Soren’s Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) announced its intention to contest independently, adding that the party would review the alliance after the elections.
In stark contrast, the BJP-led NDA projected a united front, quickly announcing a formal seat-sharing pact with the JD(U) (101 seats each), LJP (Ram Vilas), RLM, and HAM.
