Samay Raina Gets Supreme Court Directive
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has ordered comedian Samay Raina to contribute to social causes following comments he made on an episode of India’s Got Latent. During the presentation, Raina expressed concern about the expensive cost of medical treatment for a two-month-old Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) patient, causing the Cure SMA Foundation to respond.
In its order, the Supreme Court asked Samay Raina, along with four other content creators, including Vipul Goyal, Sonali Thakkar, Balraj Paramjeet Singh Ghai, and Nishant Jagdish Tanwar, to host two monthly fundraising events for people with disabilities, including SMA patients.
The bench also encouraged comedians to highlight the successes of those with disabilities. They were also asked to spotlight particularly abled people on their platforms and actively promote fundraising campaigns to ensure timely medical assistance for individuals in need.
The Supreme Court’s decision comes after the Cure SMA Foundation requested action against Raina and the other material makers for making a “insensitive remark” regarding SMA patients. In the show, Raina joked about how a mother would react if Rs 16 crore suddenly arrived in her husband’s bank account.
On the work front, Samay Raina who has faced criticism in recent months, managed to lure 25,000 fans to two sold-out gigs in Mumbai as part of his India tour Samay Raina Is Alive And Unfiltered.
