Chappell Roan is making it clear where she stands and she’s doing it without mincing words. The pop singer has announced her decision to part ways with Wasserman, adding her name to a growing list of artists distancing themselves from the powerful talent agency following fresh controversy surrounding its founder.
The 27-year-old singer confirmed on Monday, February 9, that she is no longer represented by Wasserman. Her announcement came after Casey Wasserman, the agency’s founder, was named in the latest batch of Epstein-related documents released by the Department of Justice on January 30. The files reportedly include emails exchanged in 2003 between Wasserman and Ghislaine Maxwell, who was later convicted for her role in Jeffrey Epstein’s sex
trafficking operation.
Sharing the update via Instagram Stories, Roan wrote, “As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman.”
She went on to explain the values behind her decision, saying, “I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values. I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists and I refuse to passively stand by.”
Roan further stressed the importance of accountability within the entertainment industry, adding, “Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
Her exit follows similar moves by several indie music acts, including Wednesday, Beach Bunny and Water From Your Eyes, who have also announced plans to leave Wasserman in recent days.
Beyond the music industry, the controversy has sparked wider concern due to Casey Wasserman’s role as Chief Executive Officer of the Los Angeles Olympics Organizing Committee for the 2028 Games. In the wake of the document release, local officials have publicly called for him to step down from the position.
