Deoria (UP), Apr 26 (PTI) Two teenagers drowned on Sunday while bathing in the Chhoti Gandak river in the Bhatpar Rani area in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh, police said.
The incident occurred at the Chanuki Ghat in the afternoon when the victims, identified as Atul Kushwaha (14) and Kishan Gupta (15), ventured into deep waters and started sinking, they said.
According to police, the duo, residents of Kothilwa, began struggling in the water. When their companions raised an alarm, locals rushed to the spot.
“After an extensive search, the villagers managed to pull the two boys out, but they had already died,” a police official said.
Bhatpar Rani Station House Officer (SHO) Abhishek Rai confirmed the incident, stating that the bodies have been
taken into custody.
“The two teenagers died due to drowning while bathing. Legal proceedings are being carried out, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem,” the SHO added. PTI COR ABN SKY SKY
