Senior Congress leader and Punjab party in-charge Sachin Pilot on Friday challenged the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) to audit government schools in Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-ruled Punjab with the “same eyes” and scrutiny it has used in other states.
Pilot’s comments came following a CJP audit of three schools in Punjab’s Ludhiana, where CJP Co-convenor Saurav Das led a team that visited a government ‘School of Eminence’, a government senior secondary school and a government primary school.
According to a video Das posted Thursday, while the School of Eminence had good infrastructure, a swimming pool, badminton court, ramp access for differently abled, AI lab etc., the other two had multiple issues, with Das saying that all three could have better toilets.
Reacting to a post comparing the Punjab audit with the CJP’s findings in Rajasthan, Pilot said the organisation should examine Punjab with the same standards it had applied elsewhere.
“Anyone would welcome auditing schools in Punjab or elsewhere. Only one request/suggestion: audit Punjab with the same eyes, the same questions and the same courage with which you audit governments elsewhere. Punjab deserves no special exemption—and AAP deserves no friendly exemption,” Pilot said in a post on X.

The remarks come ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections, with Congress seeking to regain power from the AAP, which defeated the party in the 2022 polls.
The CJP’s audit has also drawn a response from AAP leaders. AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal thanked the organisation for pointing out deficiencies in Punjab’s government schools and said the state government would work to address the concerns.
AAP leader Manish Sisodia, meanwhile, challenged Pilot to compare government schools in Punjab with those in Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh. He proposed a joint audit of 1,000 schools in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
AAP national media in-charge Anurag Dhanda also challenged Pilot to provide a list of 1,000 schools in Himachal Pradesh for comparison with schools in Punjab.
The CJP has previously faced criticism over the states it has chosen for its school audits, with BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad accusing the organisation of remaining silent on Punjab and Congress-ruled states while targeting BJP-ruled states.
