'Sometimes I Get Angry But...': Sarfaraz Khan Explains His On-Field Equation With Brother Musheer

Star India batter Sarfaraz Khan has said that he and his brother Musheer have played together for years now and they understand each other’s game well, adding that although the latter’s inputs sometimes

anger him, he never takes those lightly.

Regulars for Mumbai across formats, Sarfaraz and Musheer, contribute in different ways to the same cause. While the former offers solidity with the bat, Musheer, a batting all-rounder, brings added energy in the field and value through his left-arm orthodox spin.

Against Uttarakhand and then Goa, Sarfaraz and Musheer showed their impact with the bat. Sarfaraz’s blistering 157 off 75 deliveries against Goa, laced with 14 sixes, set the tone as Mumbai posted a huge 444/8 and cruised to an 87-run victory.

“We’ve played together for years, so we understand each other’s game really well. We learn from each other’s successes and failures. Even though he is much younger, Musheer’s guidance matters because he thinks differently,” Sarfaraz said while speaking to The Times of India.

Musheer, 20, has been consistent as well, contributing valuable runs and chipping in with wickets through his left-arm spin.

“When we’re in the middle, we keep talking about how to handle a bowler or pace the innings. Musheer always tells me something or the other. Sometimes I get angry, but I never take his suggestions lightly,” Sarfaraz said.

Batting at No. 4 against Goa, he smashed nine fours and 14 sixes, racing to a hundred off just 56 deliveries. Sarfaraz’s onslaught left Goa’s bowlers and fielders shellshocked.

“When I came in, the run-rate wasn’t too high because both openers saw off the tricky first hour. “It’s always difficult in the morning when the ball is doing a bit,” Sarfaraz said.

“I settled down first and then attacked as the pitch eased out. The plan was to score as many runs as possible and set a strong target. By the time I came to the crease, Musheer was batting really well,” Sarfaraz added.
