Mumbai, Sep 3 (PTI) Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), promoted by Adani Group and CIDCO, on Thursday said it has handled 3 million passengers since starting commercial operations last December, establishing the greenfield facility as one of India’s most promising new aviation gateways.
The milestone was achieved due to NMIA’s strong operational performance and commitment to passenger service standards, the airport operator said in a statement.
NMIA started domestic commercial operations on December 25, 2025, while the commercial international passenger services commenced on July 15 this year.
The airport continues to expand its international network by adding new airlines and routes in November 2026, ahead of the winter schedule.
This planned
expansion will reinforce NMIA’s position as a future-ready domestic and international gateway for Western India.
In August, the airport recorded an average last-bag delivery performance of 94 per cent, comparable to global benchmarks and reflecting its commitment to efficient, seamless airport operations, NMIA said.
The facility currently offers air services from and to 40 destinations, strengthening its role in connecting the Mumbai Metropolitan Region with key domestic markets.
With six new domestic destinations, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ranchi, Darbhanga, Guwahati and Sindhudurg, set to join its network, the airport continues to expand travel choices and enhance connectivity for passengers, it said.
“As we expand into newer domestic and international markets, supported by additional routes and airline partners, NMIA is poised to further strengthen connectivity of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and establish itself as a key aviation gateway for Western India,” said a Navi Mumbai International Airport spokesperson.
Since its launch, NMIA said it has expanded to 46 destinations from 13 earlier and has handled approximately 22,500 commercial flights, and in less than 200 days, the airport also commenced scheduled international services, connecting Navi Mumbai with Abu Dhabi. PTI IAS BAL BAL
