A stage performance at Galgotias University has sparked jokes online after a clip from the college festival started circulating on social media. The video appeared to show a magic trick from an angle that revealed how the illusion worked.
The performance took place during UNIFEST, the university’s annual cultural festival. While the act was meant to entertain students, many people online ended up focusing on the camera angle rather than the trick itself.
The clip shows a magician on stage performing a quick-change act with a female assistant. But instead of recording the show from the front like most audience members would, the person filming captured it from the side. Because of this, viewers claimed they could easily understand how the outfit
changes were happening.
Magic Trick Leaves Little Mystery
In the video, the magician is dressed in a white jacket, black top hat and yellow cape. A female assistant stands beside him as part of the act.
During the performance, a large black cloth is briefly lifted in front of the assistant. Every time the cloth drops, she appears in a different outfit. Over a few seconds, she changes into several looks, including a dark dress, a shiny pink-and-red outfit and a bright red dress.
Usually, such tricks are meant to surprise the audience. However, many people online said the side-angle recording made the trick look less magical and more like a behind-the-scenes demonstration.
The clip was shared online with a caption that added to the humour around the performance. It read, “THIS IS WHAT ‘CONSISTENCY’ LOOKS LIKE. After Galgotias’ massive ROBO-dog backlash, students badly needed a break. So the faculty arranged a magic show for ‘refreshment’. And true to Galgotias’ track record… They didn’t disappoint there either.”

Internet Reacts With Jokes
Soon after the clip spread online, social media users filled the comments section with jokes and memes.
A user wrote, “They are not showing magic. They are showing how to do magic trick behind the magic.” Another commented, “They are actually teaching how magicians trick people. It’s just that they teach really badly.”
Some people also joked about the college itself. “Ye nahi sudhrenge… hum to bhai jaise hai waise rahenge,” a user wrote. A person commented, “What is this, bro? They’re showing all this stuff to college students.”
Others noticed the magician’s expression during the act. “That jadugar doesn’t seem even remotely interested in performing,” a user said.
Several viewers treated the entire clip as comedy rather than criticism. “No matter what you say, the clip is still funny. Well done, Galgotias!” a comment read. Another person joked, “Dear students of Galgotias, please withdraw your admission and save your hard-earned money.”
