Guneet Sandhu, who plays Sunny Deol’s son inBorder 2, has been receiving immense appreciation for his performance as Angad Singh Kaler. Though his role is brief, the actor said the emotional impact of the character has stayed with audiences. Guneet shared that his social media is flooded with messages from viewers and people from the film industry who want to know more about Angad’s journey. He added that being recognised in public and asked for pictures still feels surreal and special.
Talking to Free Press Journal about his experience of working with Sunny Deol, Guneet said it felt like a childhood dream coming true. “Gadar was one of the most-watched films of my childhood. Whenever it came on television, I would be glued to the screen,” he said.
The young actor revealed that he was not nervous on set, and spoke about how sunny Deol helped him fit in. He said, “He is extremely calm, grounded, and super chill. That warmth made our scenes even better and gave me the ability to do my bit more honestly.”
Family’s Emotional Reaction After Watching The Film
Guneet also spoke about his family’s reaction to Border 2. His mother, a long-time Sunny Deol fan, has not been able to watch the film in theatres due to injury but keeps seeing his scenes online, which makes her emotional. His father and sister watched the film on the big screen, and his father later told him how proud he felt, a moment Guneet said means everything to him.
How Guneet Landed Border 2
The actor revealed that he was selected after auditioning through Mukesh Chhabra Casting Company. He prepared thoroughly for the audition, tying his own turban and focusing on an honest performance. When he got the confirmation call, Guneet said he became emotional and immediately informed his family.
Sharing Screen Space With Shah Rukh Khan
Guneet also recalled his experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan in an advertisement. “He walked up to me himself, shook my hand, gave me a warm hug and instantly made me feel comfortable,” he recalled. “What struck me the most was his humility; he was deeply present and attentive.”
One Similarity Between Sunny Deol And Shah Rukh Khan
When asked to compare the two stars, Guneet said the only difference was the language, Punjabi with Sunny Deol and Hindi with Shah Rukh Khan. Apart from that, both shared the same warmth, generosity, and respect for their co-actors.
