Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma played all three ODIs for India in the three-match series against New Zealand, which ended with the Men in Blue’s defeat with a scoreline of 1-2 on Sunday, January 18. World No. 1 ODI batter Kohli scored 93 runs from 91 balls in the series opener played at Vadodara’s BCA Stadium on January 11 before getting out for 23 runs from 29 balls in the second match played at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on January 14. In the third and final ODI of the bilateral series at Holkar Stadium in Indore on Sunday (January 18), Kohli played a knock of 124 runs from 108 balls but failed to help the hosts chase down the target of 338 runs and avoid their first-ever ODI series defeat at home against the Kiwis.
While Kohli amassed a total
of 240 runs in India’s first ODI series of calendar year 2026, Rohit could only register scores of 26, 24 and 11 in three ODIs.

The duo will not play any international cricket matches for India for the next four months, as they are not active in T20Is anymore, whereas in April and May, due to the Indian Premier League (IPL), India won’t play international matches.
Kohli and Rohit will play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI), respectively, in the IPL 2026, but their next appearance for India will be in July 2026, if they still remain active in ODIs by then.
The Indian men’s cricket team will travel to England in July for a five-match T20I and three-match ODI series. The three one-day matches are scheduled in Birmingham on July 14, Cardiff on July 16 and at Lord’s on July 19.

Rohit and Kohli last played an ODI series for India in July 2022 and managed to win two out of three matches.
According to ICC’s FTP, India are also scheduled to play one Test and three ODIs against Afghanistan in June 2026, but there is no official confirmation about that series.
After the away ODI series in England, Men in Blue will play three ODIs against the West Indies in India and three against New Zealand in New Zealand. As per FTP, India will also play three one-day matches against Sri Lanka at home in December 2026.
