After four long years away from Rue and her chaotic world, fans clearly weren’t going to take it slow. The trailer for Euphoria Season 3 has exploded online, setting a new record for HBO Max and proving just how strong the show’s pull still is.
According to HBO Max, the first trailer for the upcoming season clocked nearly 100 million views within 48 hours of its release, making it the biggest original series trailer launch in the streaming platform’s history. The teaser dropped on Wednesday, January 14, ahead of the show’s return in April 2026.
Created by Sam Levinson, the award-winning coming-of-age drama is set to premiere its third season on April 12, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max. The new season arrives four years after the previous instalment,
and the response suggests viewers have been more than ready to step back into the Euphoria universe.
HBO said the show has emerged as its most anticipated series of the year following the trailer’s record-breaking performance. For comparison, The Last of Us Season 2 amassed 158 million global cross-platform views in three days in 2024, while Game of Thrones drew 81 million views in 24 hours for its eighth and final season.
The excitement around Season 3 follows strong viewership numbers from earlier years. The Euphoria Season 2 finale in 2022 attracted 6.6 million viewers across HBO platforms, the highest figure for the series. That marked a significant jump from the Season 1 finale in 2019, which recorded 530,000 viewers. HBO expects the new season to surpass previous records.
Season 3 will see the return of Zendaya, a two-time Emmy winner, as Rue Bennett. The ensemble cast also includes Maude Apatow as Lexi Howard, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, Jacob Elordi as Nate Jacobs, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard, and Hunter Schafer as Jules Vaughn. Over the years, the cast has gone on to become established Hollywood stars, adding to the anticipation around their reunion.
Levinson has confirmed that the story will jump five years ahead, picking up after the characters have finished high school. While HBO has not officially confirmed it, Season 3 is widely expected to be the final chapter of the series, largely due to scheduling challenges faced by the now in-demand cast.
