Asha Bhosle's melodies forever etched in hearts of music lovers: Haryana CM

Chandigarh, Apr 12 (PTI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Sunday expressed condolence at the demise of the legendary playback singer Padma Vibhushan Asha Bhosle, saying her melodies will remain forever etched in the hearts of music lovers and continue to inspire generations.

The demise of a legend of the Indian music world — the ‘Nightingale of Melody’ and Padma Vibhushan-recipient Asha Bhosle ji — is deeply saddening, Saini wrote on X.

Asha Bhosle passed away early Sunday in a Mumbai hospital at the age of 92.

Her passing marks the end of an era in Indian music, the Haryana chief minister said.

Through her unparalleled melodies, soulful voice, and versatile talent, she carved an indelible identity for herself not just in India but across

the world, Saini wrote, asserting that her musical creations have immortalised her to connoisseurs worldwide and will inspire entire generations.

“May Almighty grant peace to her departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family and admirers to bear this profound sorrow,” he said.

Congress leader and former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda too expressed condolence at the legend’s passing, saying, “the demise of Asha Bhosle ji — the ‘Nightingale of India’ — honoured with numerous accolades including the Padma Vibhushan and the Dadasaheb Phalke award, is extremely heartbreaking.” “Through her thousands of songs, she left an indelible mark on the hearts of millions of music lovers with her sweet and soul-stirring voice. Her unparalleled contribution to art and music can never be forgotten. Her passing marks the end of a golden era of music,” Hooda wrote on X.

“May God grant peace to her soul and strength to her family and admirers to bear this immense loss,” Hooda said.

Condoling her demise, Congress general secretary and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja said Asha Bhosle enriched the Indian music landscape and carved a special place in the hearts of millions through her vocal artistry.

“Her voice will forever remain an integral part of our cultural heritage,” she wrote on X.

“At this hour of sorrow, my deepest condolences are with her grieving family and countless admirers. I pray God grant peace to the departed soul and strength to the family during this difficult period,” Selja said. PTI SUN ARB ARB
