Bollywood actor Parineeti Chopra, who welcomed her son Neer with Raghav Chadha in October 2025, has resumed work after embracing motherhood. In a recent interview with Zoom, the actor spoke candidly about postpartum depression, the emotional and physical toll of childbirth, the need for family support, and how she is learning to balance her professional life with being a new mother.
Parineeti Chopra Opens Up About Postpartum Depression
Parineeti said that people often believe the difficult part ends once pregnancy is over and the baby is born. However, she pointed out that a mother continues to need medical care, emotional attention and a strong support system even after delivery.
The actor stressed that postpartum care is not spoken about enough
and that women should not be expected to simply “bounce back” after childbirth.
She said, “Unfortunately, the term depression is often misused by some people. They are just like, ‘Oh, she’s sad’. But she’s dealing with a painful delivery, painful recovery, a hormonal crash and an emotional crash. She’s feeding a baby and taking care of a human being. It’s not just about taking care of the baby. Sometimes that’s the easy part, and the woman is going through much more.”
Parineeti Says Motherhood Is Like ‘10 Jobs In One’
Parineeti further described motherhood as “10 jobs in one” and said that caring for a child is a full-time responsibility. Speaking about the importance of support during the first few months after childbirth, she said a woman can manage anything if she has the right people around her.
She added, “If we can support the mother, I know I can speak for every woman, she can do anything. But if she doesn’t have that support in those first few months postpartum, she collapses. And if she collapses, the baby, the family and the house collapse. It will never be easy, and that’s why you choose the life and schedules that work for you.”
Parineeti and Raghav welcomed their son Neer on October 19, 2025. The couple had announced his arrival on Instagram with a heartfelt post that read, “He’s finally here! Our baby boy! And we literally can’t remember life before! Arms full, our hearts fuller. First, we had each other; now, we have everything.”
Since becoming a mother, Parineeti has also launched her YouTube channel.
