Los Angeles, May 2 (PTI) The audience will have to wait longer for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew”, which will release on February 12, 2027.
The film, which was previously slated for release in 2026, will debut on Netflix on April 2, following its theatrical run, according to the entertainment news outlet Deadline.
It is the first chronological story in “The Chronicles of Narnia” series and serves as a reboot of the film franchise. It will feature Carey Mulligan, Daniel Craig, and Emma Mackey. Actor Meryl Streep is also expected to be attached to the project to voice Aslan, the Great Lion.
Lewis’ first book was published in 1950, followed by other instalments until 1956. There are seven books in total. The story follows
siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie, who discover a portal in the back of an old wardrobe during World War II. They enter Narnia, a land of talking animals and mythical creatures, which has been cursed with 100 years of winter by the White Witch, Jadis.
The first film based on the book series released in 2005 and was titled “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”. Followed by “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” in 2008 and “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader”, which released in 2010. The releases collectively earned over USD 1.5 billion at the global box office.
Gerwig’s film was announced in July 2023. She is also expected to direct another “Narnia” film. PTI ATR ATR ATR
