Harry Kane’s sensational start to the new season continued as the England captain scored his second Bundesliga hat-trick in Bayern Munich’s 4-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Fresh from a Champions League brace against Chelsea in midweek, Kane struck three times to make it 13 goals already this term — eight in four Bundesliga outings.
The 31-year-old has now netted 98 goals in 103 games since joining Bayern in 2023, with nine hat-tricks to his name.
Clinical Kane
Bayern, heavily rotated by coach Vincent Kompany with five changes and Nicolas Jackson handed a first start, lacked fluency early as Hoffenheim created the better openings. But Kane broke the deadlock before half-time, sweeping home from a corner.
He doubled the lead from the penalty spot
soon after the restart, though Hoffenheim were left fuming over a contentious handball call. VAR later intervened again, awarding another penalty after Michael Olise was fouled, and Kane made no mistake for his third.
Vladimir Coufal pulled one back for Hoffenheim via a deflected free-kick, before Serge Gnabry — against his former club — sealed Bayern’s seventh straight win in all competitions with a stoppage-time strike.
“Hat-trick Harry is what they called me in school,” Kane told DAZN afterwards. The England skipper, who has converted all 17 of his Bundesliga penalties, added: “It’s not easy… I prepare a lot, I practise a lot. Any ball in the box, whether penalty or not, I back myself to hit the target.”
Historic Hamburg Win
Elsewhere, promoted Hamburg finally celebrated their first Bundesliga victory in 2,688 days, beating Heidenheim 2-1. Luka Vuskovic tapped in just before the break, and Arsenal loanee Fabio Vieira set up Rayan Philippe for the second. Adam Koelle’s stoppage-time goal made for a nervy finish, but Hamburg held firm to end a seven-year, four-month wait.
Freiburg won 3-0 at Werder Bremen, while Mainz, reduced to 10 men early in the second half, thrashed Augsburg 4-1. RB Leipzig host Cologne later on Saturday.
