Did Farah Khan really ask Shah Rukh Khan not to cast Saif Ali Khan in Main Hoon Na? The filmmaker has now reacted to the actor’s recent claim and clarified that she has no memory of such a conversation ever taking place.
The discussion began after Saif, during a recent interview, said that Shah Rukh Khan had once approached him for a role in Main Hoon Na. However, according to Saif, the part did not eventually come his way.
Saif Ali Khan On Being Offered Main Hoon Na
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Saif was asked if Shah Rukh Khan had ever offered him any roles. Responding to the question, the actor said, “Yes, of course. He once called me for Main Hoon Na. He said there’s a great part.”
Saif then claimed that Farah Khan later called SRK and objected
to him being cast in the film. He said Farah told Shah Rukh “no, no” regarding his casting.
However, Farah has now denied being aware of any such incident. Reacting to Saif’s statement, she told Hindustan Times, “First I’m hearing of this (sic).”
Saif And Shah Rukh Khan’s On-Screen Collaborations
Saif Ali Khan and Shah Rukh Khan have shared screen space a few times over the years. Their most memorable collaboration remains Kal Ho Naa Ho in 2003, where Saif played Rohit opposite Shah Rukh’s Aman. The film became one of the most loved Hindi romantic dramas of its time.
Before that, Saif also had a cameo in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, where he appeared as Aman Mehra. Apart from films, the two actors have also crossed paths through award shows, industry events, special appearances and public interactions.
Saif Reunites With SRK For Kartavya
Saif has now reunited with Shah Rukh Khan professionally through Kartavya, the recently released Netflix crime drama backed by SRK’s production banner. The series premiered on May 15, 2026.
In Kartavya, Saif plays a tough, duty-bound police officer caught in a world of corruption, moral conflict and personal sacrifice. The show marks his return to an intense, character-driven space and has been drawing attention for its realistic tone and his restrained performance.
While the Main Hoon Na casting claim has sparked curiosity, Farah’s response suggests that the filmmaker has no recollection of having blocked Saif’s involvement in the film.
