CJP Protest In Delhi Today Live Updates: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has called for a ‘Lehra Do Tiranga‘ march at Central Park in Connaught Place, New Delhi, on Friday.
The march is scheduled to begin at 5 pm, with Dipke urging supporters and members of the public to gather at Central Park carrying the national flag. The protest is part of the CJP’s campaign demanding Kumar’s removal over alleged irregularities in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
However, the proposed gathering faces restrictions, with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) announcing that Central Park will remain closed on October 16 and 17 for administrative reasons. Delhi Police has also cited prohibitory orders in CP and adjoining
areas and advised people to stay away from the proposed march.
Dipke Says Ready To Go To Jail
Addressing a press conference late Thursday, Dipke claimed that Delhi Police and Intelligence Bureau personnel were monitoring his movements and said he could be detained before the march.
“If we have to go to jail to wave the Tiranga in this country, then we are ready for it,” he said.
Police Cites Restrictions
Delhi Police has urged people to avoid the gathering, citing prohibitory orders and concerns about public order. It has, however, indicated that a limited group could be facilitated to wave the national flag and sing the national anthem at a suitable location.
Authorities have also warned that legal action could be taken against those who violate the restrictions.
Security has been stepped up in and around Connaught Place, with barricades and additional personnel expected to regulate movement and prevent any untoward incident.
The protest follows the detention and judicial custody of CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after a demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
