Ajith Kumar's Mother Passes Away At 85; Kamal Haasan, Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Mourn Her Loss

Tamil superstar and professional racer Ajith Kumar suffered a personal loss on Saturday, May 30, as his mother, Mohini Mani, passed away in Chennai at the age of 85 following age-related health complications. The news has left the Tamil film industry and fans deeply saddened, with several celebrities and political leaders, including Kamal Haasan and M.K. Stalin, extending their heartfelt condolences to the actor and his family.

Her demise comes a little over three years after the passing of Ajith’s father, P.S. Mani, who died in March 2023 at the age of 85. Reports suggest that Ajith, who was in Dubai at the time of the tragic news, is expected to return to Chennai to be with his family and attend the final rites. After the news surfaced, Kamal Haasan mourned Ajith’s mother’s loss on social media. He wrote, “I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Ajitkumar’s mother, Mrs. Mohini Mani. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Ajitkumar and his family, who are grieving the loss of their beloved mother.”

The official handle of CMO Tamil Nadu also shared a note on behalf of Vijay. The tweet read, “I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the demise of my dear friend Mr. Ajith Kumar’s mother Mrs. Mohini Ammaiyar. I pray that her soul rests in the eternal peace of the Almighty.
