UP Woman Cop Stops Siblings At Temple, Calls Parents To Verify Relationship: ‘Papa Ka Name Batao Jaldi Se’ A short video showing a woman police officer questioning a group of girls at a temple has caught
wide attention online. In the clip, the officer is seen asking the girls questions and calling their families to confirm details, while a young boy stands nearby. The video left many viewers confused and curious about what exactly had happened.
Soon after the clip started circulating, details about the incident came out. It was confirmed that the video was recorded at the Sheetla Mata temple in the Mau district of Uttar Pradesh. The woman officer seen in the video is Manju Singh, who was the in-charge of the women’s police station in Mau at the time.
What The Video Shows Inside The temple Premises
The video opens with Manju Singh questioning a few girls who were walking around the temple area. A boy is also present with them, and the officer asks him about his identity and why they were there. She then asks the girls where they are from and requests a phone number to contact their families.
At one point, she is heard advising the girls not to roam around alone and to always step out with a guardian. The officer also speaks to the parents over the phone to confirm the details shared by the children.
Police Say It Was Part Of A Safety Drive
According to Manju Singh, she was at the temple with her team as part of the Mission Shakti campaign, which focuses on women’s safety and awareness. She said she noticed some minor girls moving around the temple and decided to question them as a safety measure.
One of the girls told the officer that the boy with them was her brother. To verify this, the officer called the family. The parents confirmed that the boy was indeed her brother and that they knew the children had gone to the temple. Police later said all of them were residents of Ghazipur district and that no wrongdoing was found.
Advice Sparks Backlash Online
Even after the verification, the officer is heard telling the girls and their father that the children should not go out without a guardian. This part of the video drew strong reactions online, with many calling it unnecessary advice.
“This is moral policing,” several users commented. A user said, “Police walonko aur kuch kaam dhandha nhi hai lagta hai.”
Another wrote, “Abb koi aaram se ghoom bhe nhi skta.” Others questioned why even couples or siblings should be stopped in public places.
Officer Transferred After Criticism Grows
After the video spread, Mau Superintendent of Police Elamaran G confirmed that Manju Singh was transferred from her post, as per NDTV. He said police staff are being counselled on how to behave with the public.
Additional SP Anup Kumar also reportedly clarified that no offence had been committed and warned against officers acting beyond their role. He said police should not give unwanted advice and must stay within their authority.
