For decades, CID has been an iconic part of Indian television for its gripping murder mysteries, dramatic investigations and unforgettable characters. Who can forget ACP Pradyuman’s signature dialogue,
“Kuch to gadbad hai” or the genius forensic work of Dr Salunkhe? While fans have enjoyed watching the team solve crime scenes on TV, what if we told you that a real-life CID moment is now making rounds on Instagram?
Abhinab, a Master’s student in Forensic Science at NFSU, Delhi, shared a reel that instantly reminded followers of the legendary show. The clip consists of a series of pictures from a crime investigation scene, featuring Abhinab completely immersed in forensic work, analysing evidence and trying to solve the puzzle, much like a young Dr Salunkhe in action. The video comes with a text overlay that reads, “POV: You solve a murder mystery instead of watching one.”
In his caption, Abhinab made sure to clarify the purpose of the reel as he wrote, “Please do not misinterpret the content or associate it with unrelated issues. This video is created solely for educational and motivational purposes, specifically highlighting the forensic aspects involved. Any assumptions beyond this intended purpose are inaccurate.”
Fans of CID couldn’t help but flood the comments with nostalgia and excitement. One user joked, “Abb Instagram mein CID episodes dekhne ko milega,” while many others posted GIFs of ACP Pradyuman’s iconic “Kuch to gadbad hai” dialogue. There were also some references to Dr Salunkhe, with fans writing, “Dr Salunkhe junior”, comparing Abhinab’s dedication to the forensic expert in the show.
The Legacy of CID
Ever since airing on 21 January 1998, CID has quickly become a milestone in Indian television. Created by BP Singh and initially produced under Fireworks Productions, the series enjoyed a remarkable run of over two decades before concluding its first season in October 2018. The show featured Shivaji Satam as the iconic ACP Pradyuman, alongside Aditya Srivastava, Dayanand Shetty, Dinesh Phadnis and Narendra Gupta. Throughout its airing, it secured a lasting place in the hearts of audiences across the country.
CID Returns With Global Streaming
Last year, CID returned with a second season in December. Produced under Banijay Asia and Fiction Factory, with BP Singh still as the creator, the show’s comeback was even more special, especially for its global streaming release on Netflix since February 22, allowing a new generation of audiences to experience the thrill of the show.
Dr Salunkhe In CID
Played by Narendra Gupta, Dr Salunkhe, the brilliant forensic expert from CID, has long been a fan favourite for his approach to solving crimes and his ability to crack even the trickiest of cases.
Abhinab’s Instagram reel immediately reminded followers of this iconic character. Watching him engrossed in forensic work, examining evidence and carefully tracing clues gave fans serious Dr Salunkhe vibes and honestly, we think they are not wrong.
