New Delhi, Aug 27 (PTI) The CBI on Thursday arrested two engineers of BSNL in Bhopal in a bribery case.
It is alleged that both Chief Engineer (Electrical) Avnish Kumar Shukla and Superintending Engineer (Electrical) VB Chakrapani demanded bribe of Rs 2 lakh each from a Jabalpur-based firm which executed operation and maintenance and electrical installation-related works of BSNL, the agency said.
“The bribe amount was demanded for processing pending bills of the firm pertaining to 14 different works,” CBI’s spokesperson said in a statement.
In a trap operation on Thursday, the CBI arrested both the officers while accepting Rs 75000 each, as part payment, the agency said.
“Searches are being conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused
persons in Bhopal, Lucknow and Kanpur,” it said. PTI ABS ZMN
