Aparshakti Khurana Turns Menacing In ROOT As A R Murugadoss Drops Second Look

A fresh look reveal, a big-name stamp of approval and a debut that’s turning heads, ROOT – Running Out of Time, is slowly building its buzz. On Monday, filmmaker A R Murugadoss unveiled Aparshakti Khurana’s intense new look from the upcoming Tamil sci-fi thriller.

Murugadoss shared the poster on his social media handles on January 26, officially introducing Aparshakti’s character from the film. Along with the reveal, he wrote, “Happy to reveal the second look from the world of #ROOT – This is where it begins.”

Marking his entry into Tamil cinema, Aparshakti Khurana appears in a pivotal role that carries an unsettling, mysterious edge. The newly released look presents him in a dark,

menacing avatar, hinting at a character deeply tied to the film’s suspense-driven narrative.

Known for his memorable supporting performances in films such as Dangal, Stree, Pati Patni Aur Woh and Stree 2, as well as his widely praised role in the series Jubilee, Aparshakti’s Tamil debut has significantly raised expectations around ROOT – Running Out of Time.

The film stars Gautham Ram Karthik in the lead. His first look from the project was unveiled earlier this month by Superstar Rajinikanth on January 1, a moment that generated considerable buzz and drew attention to the sci-fi thriller.

Written and directed by Sooriyaprathap S, ROOT – Running Out of Time is positioned as a sci-fi crime thriller. The film is produced by Shaik Mujeeb, RajaRajan Gnanasambandam, Sanjai Shankar and Dhanishtan Fernando under the banner of Verus Productions. According to the makers, the project blends high-stakes thrills with emotionally layered storytelling.

In addition to Gautham Ram Karthik and Aparshakti Khurana, the ensemble cast includes Narain, Bhavya Trikha, Y Gee Mahendra, Pavni Reddy, Linga and RJ Anandhi in key roles.

The film has been shot extensively in Chennai and several other locations. Production has now been completed, and ROOT – Running Out of Time is currently in the post-production stage.
