Gurnoor Brar bowled 10 overs for India in the second ODI against New Zealand on Saturday (November 7) and picked up four wickets for 30 runs. The figures of 4 for 30 by the young pacer from Punjab helped him register the third-best bowling figures by an Indian in ODIs in New Zealand.
The record for the best ODI bowling figures by an Indian in New Zealand is held by Anil Kumble. The former spinner bowled 10 overs against the Kiwis in Wellington on March 30, 1994, and picked up five wickets for 33 runs. He is followed by Javagal Srinath, who registered figures of 4 for 23 in 10 overs on December 26, 2002, in Auckland.
The four-wicket haul by Brar helped him join an elite list of Indian bowlers. Gurnoor is only the fourth Indian pacer to take four or more
wickets in an ODI match in New Zealand.
Srinath has two ODI four-wicket hauls in New Zealand, while Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh have also picked up one each. Arshdeep finished with figures of 4 for 70 in 10 overs against New Zealand on November 4, 2026, at Eden Park in Auckland.

Gurnoor opened his wicket account on Saturday by removing Tom Latham on the second ball of the 20th over. The left-handed batter was caught by Naman Dhir for seven off 22 balls. On the sixth ball of the same over, Gurnoor then dismissed Glenn Phillips. Like Latham, Phillips also attempted to play an aerial shot but was caught by Anshul Kamboj for a four-ball duck.
Gurnoor’s third wicket came in the form of New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner, who was caught by KL Rahul for 31. Rohit Sharma then completed the catch to dismiss Kyle Jamieson on the fifth ball of Gurnoor’s 10th over.
For India, apart from Gurnoor, Axar Patel, Auqib Nabi and Anshul Kamboj also picked up two wickets each, while Arshdeep Singh remained wicketless.
The superb show by India’s inexperienced pace attack helped the visitors bowl the hosts out for just 134 runs in 41 overs.
