To benefit genuine passengers, the train ticket booking window for the Aadhaar-linked IRCTC users will change from Monday i.e. December 29 on the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) day. As per the new rule,
the Indian Railways has also made Aadhaar verification a prerequisite for booking general reservation tickets on the first day of the advance reservation period through the IRCTC portal.
The revised update will come into effect on January 12.
Earlier, the national transporter had made Aadhaar-based verification mandatory for booking reserved train tickets through the IRCTC website or app during the first 15 minutes of the opening of general reservations. Later, Aadhaar authentication was extended to the morning hours – from 8 AM to 10 AM – on the first day of reserved ticket booking.
As per a report by Indian Express, the Indian Railways has now decided to expand Aadhaar-authenticated bookings for general reservations on the opening day, extending the window until 12 PM from December 29.
Earlier, IRCTC mandated Aadhaar-based verification for booking reserved train tickets through the IRCTC website or app during the first 15 minutes of the general reservations opening.
Later, this requirement was extended to the morning hours from 8 AM to 10 AM on the first day of reserved ticket booking.
Additionally, the national transporter plans to gradually extend the Aadhaar-authenticated ticket booking window until 12 midnight in a phased manner.
