Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant half-century for India in the third ODI against Afghanistan on Saturday (June 20) and helped the Men in Blue register a nine-wicket win. Thanks to Rohit’s 79-run knock off 69 balls and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 110 off 86 balls, India chased down the 219-run target in 28.4 overs, losing only one wicket.
Rohit, who is India’s third-highest run-scorer in ODIs, needed just 47 balls to complete his fifty at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday. The half-century against the Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side helped Rohit break Mohinder Amarnath’s 37-year-old record and become the oldest Indian batter to score a fifty in an ODI.

against Pakistan in Sharjah on October 15, 1989. In comparison, Rohit was 39 years and 51 days old on June 20, 2026.
