Chandigarh, May 29 (PTI) People in Haryana and Punjab on Friday got respite from the sizzling heat as the maximum temperatures dropped a few notches below the normal limits.
During the past several days, the maximum temperatures had hovered above 40 degrees Celsius across the two states.
According to the weather office here, Chandigarh, the common capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded a maximum of 35.6 degrees Celsius, over four degrees below normal.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a high of 36 degrees Celsius, down three notches against normal while Hisar recorded a high of 37.7 degrees Celsius, five below normal.
Karnal recorded a high of 35.4 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal, and Narnaul, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Gurugram also recorded below-normal
maximum at 35 degrees, 34.9 degrees, 35.5 degrees and 34.4 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Sirsa recorded a high of 39.8 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Patiala recorded a high of 36.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees below the season’s normal.
Amritsar recorded a high of 38 degrees Celsius, over two notches below normal while Ludhiana recorded a maximum of 37.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.
Hoshiarpur recorded a high of 36.4 degrees Celsius. PTI SUN PRK
