Chennai-based fitness trainer Raj Ganpath, who has over 18 years of experience in the fitness industry, recently shared his approach to everyday eating in an Instagram video. Ganpath is the founder of the Slow Burn Method, co-founder and head coach at Quad Fitness, and the author of Simple, Not Easy.
Ganpath took to his Instagram and shared a video talking about how he personally enjoys and structures his meals. In the caption, he wrote about feeling grateful. “I’ll be completely honest – In every meal there is a point where I just close my eyes, think ‘Oh man, this is sooo goood!’ and realise how lucky and privileged I am to eat food that is so tasty and healthy.”
In the video, he made it clear that he was not trying to deliver a strict nutrition
lesson. “This is not a nutrition post. I’m not going to bore you. This is a food post. We’re going to talk about eating,” he said.

Protein for taste and fullness
According to Ganpath, the first thing everyone needs in every meal is protein. While protein helps build strength and muscle in the long term, he said it also plays an important role in the short term. “I am also fuller for longer,” he explained, adding that he enjoys the taste and texture of protein-rich foods.
Vegetables for digestion and balance
Vegetables are the second must-have on his plate. Ganpath spoke about their health benefits but also highlighted digestion. “I don’t want to be constipated. I’m sure you want to poop well too,” he said, explaining why vegetables are essential for him.
Why starch completes a meal
Starch is the third component Ganpath looks for in every meal. While it gives him energy to stay active, he also described its emotional comfort. “A meal without starch doesn’t really feel like a meal,” he said.
Texture matters too
The fourth element is something crunchy. Ganpath admitted there is no long-term health reason for this choice, but said crunch adds another layer of enjoyment to food.
Liquid and a little sweetness
The fifth component is some kind of liquid, such as water or a protein shake, which helps cleanse the palate. The sixth is something sweet. He often finishes meals with dark chocolate, adding, “As long as you’re in balance, everything’s good, right?”
