Shah Rukh Khan has wished his fans on Independence Day with a strong note on social media. Today, August 15, 2026, marks 80 years of India’s independence, with the country celebrating the day with fervour and patriotism. SRK took to his X account to share his thoughts on what being an Indian means to him. The actor spoke about India’s diversity and the feeling of being part of something bigger.

On the work front
Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for his next release which is titled King. The film is touted to be an action thriller helmed by Pathaan director Siddharth Anand. The film’s cast includes SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan along with Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Rani Mukerji, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal, Abhay Verma, Saurabh Shukla and Akshay Oberoi.
The makers have kept the plot of King largely under wraps. However, the film is expected to be a high-octane action entertainer, with Shah Rukh Khan playing the titular role. The film is backed by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures.
King marks SRK’s return to the big screen after Dunki (2023). Currently, King is scheduled to hit theatres on December 24, 2026. The title reveal of the film presented SRK in a rugged, intense avatar, signalling a darker action-thriller rather than a conventional romantic or family entertainer.
