Chennai Super Kings named Spencer Johnson in the lineup to take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on Thursday in the IPL 2026 enoucntemr between the two, coming in for the injured Jamie Overton.
Overton was ruled out of the crucial game due to a thigh injury and the Australian seamer Johnson replaced the English all-rounder for the five-time champions. While the other change for Chennai was domestic pacer Gurjanpreet Singh coming in for Windies spinner Akeal Hosein for the game in Lucknow.
LSG won the coin toss ahead of the game between the sides and skipper Rishabh Pant opted to field first against the side from Chennai.
LSG, who have been ousted from the running for the playoff places, would look to play spoilsport when the hopeful
CSK look to add to their tally in their pursuit of a top-4 finish.
LSG have had to endure a woeful season, winning just three games out of their 11 outings thus far, and remain at the very bottom of the table, while CSK have demonstrated their resurgence in the season after a testing start.
Chennai, who lost all three of their initial games, have come back strong with 6 wins in their subsequent 9 outings and stand right on the cusp of the top-4 with 12 points from 11 games, one point behind 4th placed Punjab Kings.
