Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Tim David has become the centre of attention on social media after a viral video allegedly showed him making an offensive gesture following RCB’s dramatic last-ball win over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday.
The clip, which spread rapidly online after the match in Raipur, appears to show David making a middle-finger gesture from the RCB dugout moments after Bengaluru sealed a thrilling two-wicket victory. However, the footage remains unverified, and there has been no official confirmation regarding its authenticity or the exact context behind the incident.

The dramatic finish had already generated massive buzz. Chasing 167, RCB required 15 runs in the final over and seemed to be slipping out of contention after Romario Shepherd was dismissed. Mumbai Indians appeared firmly in control before Bhuvneshwar Kumar shifted the momentum with a crucial six, eventually allowing Rasikh Salam Dar to complete the chase off the last delivery.
As celebrations erupted inside the RCB camp, cameras captured emotional reactions from players and support staff. It was during these scenes that David’s alleged gesture became a major talking point online, with fans debating whether frustration, adrenaline or rivalry may have played a role.
David’s MI-RCB History
The Australian power-hitter previously spent three seasons with Mumbai Indians before joining RCB at the 2025 auction. Since moving to Bengaluru, he has established himself as a key member of the batting unit and played an important role during their title-winning 2025 campaign. Last season, he scored 187 runs in 12 matches at an impressive average of 62.33 and a strike rate above 185.
Ironically, David endured a forgettable outing against his former franchise in Raipur. Batting at a crucial stage of the chase, he was dismissed for a golden duck by Corbin Bosch, adding to speculation among fans that emotions may have boiled over after the tense finish.
Despite the viral nature of the footage, neither IPL officials nor Royal Challengers Bengaluru have issued a statement regarding the alleged incident. The lack of clarity has only fuelled further discussion across social media platforms.
Meanwhile, RCB head coach Andy Flower was fined “15 per cent of his applicable match fee” for breaching Level 1 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials.
